Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? Melbourne Knitting Club has classes starting in January 2019.
Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight

Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight is the largest event of its kind in Melbourne.

Running for 81 consecutive years, Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight is held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

This event raises money for Vision Australia and features big name musical talent. Stay tuned to the Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight Facebook Page for host announcements.

Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s hugely popular, free cubby building event, Botanica is returning to Melbourne Gardens this summer, along with a host of new activities for families.

When: Christmas Eve, gates open at 4pm. Pre-show entertainment 5:30pm. Carols by Candlelight 8pm.

Manningham Carols by Candlelight

The 37th Manningham Carols by Candlelight kicks off with

Kids zone: 6 - 7:30pm
Main concert: 8pm
Fireworks: 10pm

Pack a picnic rug and head to Ruffey Lake Park to celebrate the festive season.

Carols in the Park (Bayside)

Bayside City Council will host their 2018 Carols in the Park event at Dendy Park.

The main concert begins at 7:30pm headlined by the Southern Area Concert band, Vocally Wild and Mosaic Choirs.

Pack a picnic rug and head down to Dendy Park on Tuesday 11 December to celebrate the festive season Fill your tummies with variety of foods available from vendors on the night.

The event will end with a spectacular fireworks finale at 9.30pm.

Carols by Kingston

Carols by Kingston will this year be shifting from Highett to Bicentennial Park in Chelsea.

The free, Council-run event, will feature Australia’s leading lady of musical theatre, Marina Prior, alongside other celebrity favourites.

There will also be an artisan gift market and a kids zone for the little ones.

Program:

Christmas gift market - 6pm – 9.30pm
Kids’ Christmas Activity Area (Santa’s Workshop) 6.30pm – 8pm
Santa’s Main Stage appearance - 6.30pm
Performances - from 7pm
Fireworks - 9.30pm.

While the event is free, a limited number of reserved seats are available to purchase for $15 each. Book Here

Lyrebird Community Christmas Festival & Carols (Seaford)

The annual Lyrebird Community Christmas Festival & Carols will return in 2018 on Sunday 16 December.

Carols at Como Park

Carols at Como Park is one of Melbourne’s much-loved festive events.

This year, Carols at Como Park will be hosted by one of Australia’s most popular actors and presenters Shane Jacobson.

This star-studded line-up will be headlined by Australian Idol and I’m A Celebrity winner Casey Donovan and feature unmissable performances by Genevieve Kingsford (The Light of Piazza, Brigadoon), Blake Appelqvist (Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Kinky Boots) and Josh Piterman (The Ten Tenors, West Side Story, Cats).

The evening will conclude with a spectacular riverside pyrotechnic display.

Supported by Stonnington City Brass and South of the River Choir.

Car parking $10 per car (car park opens at 5pm) run by the Rotary Club of Prahran at Como Car Park North (and the Upper Oval).

Family Christmas at Central Park

This year's Family Christmas at Central park program is still in the planning stage but will be held on Sunday 9 December 6:30 - 8:30pm.

While the event is being fine-tuned, there is confirmation that musical theatre sensation Lucy Durack (Wicked, Legally Blonde) will host this year’s event.

Lucy will be joined by Emily Williams (Australian Idol, Young Divas), Bobby Fox (Jersey Boys, Riverdance, Mamma Mia!) and Euan Doidge (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Kinky Boots).

Carols at the Lake (Lilydale)

Maroondah Carols

The 2018 Maroondah Carols event program is as follows:

6.30pm:
Preshow entertainment by Bethany Fisher in the ‘Christmas Spectacular’ show

7.30pm:
The main show begins with Christmas carols; performed by soloists Daniel Hearn and Caitlin Spears and supported by the Maroondah Carols Band made up of members from the Maroondah Brass Band, Croydon Wind Symphony, and the Vocal Vibes Choir.

9.45pm:
A fireworks show that will light up the Maroondah sky (weather permitting).

Carols in the Cathedral

The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra present Carols in the Cathedral at St Paul's Cathedral in the CBD.

In 2018 the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic celebrates its 166th year of music-making in Victoria, making it Australia's oldest surviving cultural organisation and one of the oldest secular independent choirs in the world.

Buy your tickets (starting from $28) to the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra's Carols in the Cathedral and listen to the beautiful sounds of three of Melbourne’s finest choirs.

The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir will be joined by members of Melbourne University Choral Society (MUCS), and the angelic voices of The Australian Children’s Choir, accompanied by the RMP Brass Consort and percussion, piano, organ, and harp and guest soloists all under the baton of conductor Andrew Wailes.
