We're in December now so we're officially in the month of Christmas!

This week we are covering the best Carols by Candlelight Events in and around Melbourne.

Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight

This year is the 80th anniversary of Melbourne's largest Christmas Carol event; Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

This ticketed event raises money for Vision Australia and features big name musical talent, this year hosted by Anthony Callea. Joining Anthony Callea will be Casey Donovan, Koi Boys, Tim Campbell, David Hobson, Dennis Walter, Marina Prior & Silvie Paladino.

When: Christmas Eve, gates open at 4pm. Pre-show entertainment 5:30pm. Carols by Candlelight 8pm.

Manningham Carols by Candlelight

The 36th Manningham Carols by Candlelight heads to
Ruffey Lake Park to celebrate the festive season.

When: Friday 15 December, 6 - 10 pm

Carols by Kingston

Carols by Kingston is is an annual event to encourage the local community to get together with friends and family and enjoy the sounds of Christmas.

This year’s event will also feature an artisan Christmas market for your last minute gift ideas and the jolly man in red will make an appearance, too.

Carols at Como Park

Carols at Como Park is one of Melbourne’s much-loved festive events.

Cameron Daddo hosts Carols at Como Park 2017 featuring the iconic Christine Anu, performing some of her greatest hits and original Christmas songs, joined by a stellar line up of hit musical performers including, Amanda Harrison (Wicked, We Will Rock You), Kane Alexander (Hair, Footloose) and Blake Bowden (The Book of Mormon).

The evening will end with a spectacular riverside pyrotechnic display.

Supported by Stonnington City Brass and South of the River Choir.

Car parking $5 per car (car park opens at 5pm) run by the Rotary Club of Prahran at Como Car Park North (and the Upper Oval).

Carols at Central Park

This year's Christmas at Central park will present a fun and traditional Christmas event featuring songs and carols, craft activities and performances for the kids from 5.30pm.

Entertainment for the little ones includes I Scream Nails, Smart Art, Bethany Fisher's Christmas Spectacular, roving Giant Stilt Elves and The Kazoos Christmas Show and a special visit from Santa.

The official Carols performance will begin at 7:30pm hosted by star of stage and screen Tim Campbell (Home and Away, Wicked) and performed by some of Melbourne's most popular musical talent including Lucy Maunder (Matilda, Doctor Zhivago), Thando Sikwila (Dreamgirls, The Colour Purple), and Paul Biencourt (Auf Naxos, The Marriage of Figaro).

Supported by Stonnington City Brass and South of the River Choir.

Carols in the Cathedral

A little different from Carols in the park, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra present Carols in the Cathedral at St Paul's Cathedral in the city.

Over 150 singers from Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir, with special guests Melbourne University Choral Society and The Australian Children's Choir combine with the spectacular RMP Brass and Percussion Consort, organ, piano, harp, guitar, and soloists to perform a magnificent celebration of Christmas.

When: 14 December, various times.
