At some stage, you may find yourself in hospital with a sick or injured child, or as an expectant mother with pregnancy complications. Uncle Bobs Club is an organisation that raises much needed funds for vital medical equipment for healthcare organisations.
Uncle Bobs Club (UBC) was established in 1942 to raise money for the Orthopaedic section of the Children’s Hospital and never looked back. They donate annually to the Royal Children’s Hospital, along with various community groups, health organisations and individuals throughout Australia. Last year the organisation raised over $509,000 for children’s health.
Through their
Local Giving for Local Health campaign, which is all about supporting health and medical organisations in the community, UBC has partnered with 7 hospitals and 1 health organisation to fundraise for medical equipment.
This year, UBC aims to raise a total goal of $54,520. Some of the items they are raising money for include an ice and water dispenser for the
Northern Hospital’s paediatric ward, and
medical treatment chairs to monitor unborn babies at Peninsula Health.
How can you help?
To make a donation, head to the
website to read more about each cause. Alternatively, how about organising a fundraiser at your local club, school or community group?
UBC’s ‘Wheelbarrow Push’ takes place from Sorrento to Safety Beach each year on Good Friday, and makes its way around Victoria to raise money for vital pieces of equipment for use in children’s wards.
For each dollar donated, the Wheelbarrow moves around Victoria until it reaches the goal of $54,520. Due to COVID, the event went virtual this year, and you can track the wheelbarrow online
here.
How your donation helps sick and injured children and unborn babies
By making a donation UBC’s Northern Health fundraiser, you can contribute towards an ice and water dispenser to replace the domestic freezer currently in use, which just can’t keep up with demand. Ice has many vital uses, from reducing swelling to keeping kids hydrated when they can’t, or won’t drink water. Read more and make a donation

By donating to Peninsula Health, you’ll be raising funds for medical treatment chairs to monitor unborn babies who are at risk of complications. This is incredibly important for brain development of the baby and the health of mother and child. The chairs will be used to monitor over 300 unborn babies each month. You can read more and donate
here.
Even the smallest donation can make a big difference to a child’s life. To read more about Uncle Bobs Club, check out the
