Melbourne day trips: a list of where to take the kids to adventure through the tree tops in Victoria

If your children love the outdoors; climbing trees and exploring the bush, why not take them to one of the many tree top adventure parks found throughout Victoria.

Pack a bag and organise a road trip to one of the following tree top parks near Melbourne:

Enchanted Adventure Gardens: Mornington Peninsula

The Enchanted Adventure Garden near Arthur's Seat on the Mornington Peninsula is an award-winning family-friendly outdoor attraction, approximately 60 mins from Melbourne's CBD.

There's tube slides for little ones and big ones, tree surfing (from nippers age 4 plus) and zip line courses for the big kids (and grown-ups!). The grounds of the Enchanted Maze are beautiful with mazes to explore and outdoor games to play, too. There's a cafe on site and a huge lolly shop!

Families flock here to zoom through the trees on the Zipline Tour, to explore the canopy via the peaceful Treetop Walk or meander through the Rainforest Ranger Trail. There's enough here to please all ages.

For the adventurous types, even those as young as 5 years old (must be a minimum of 125cm tall), the Zipline Tour takes 2.5 hours in total and is the highlight for many visitors.

Experience the rainforest zipping through the leafy treetops of the magnificent Otway Ranges from one ‘Cloud Station’ to another, suspended up to 30 metres above the forest floor!

While there is no minimum age for tree top activities at Kinglake Forest Adventures, 5/6 yrs upwards is the usual age recommendation for zipline, freefalls and tree climbing.

Alternatively, this beautiful part of Victoria is a wonderful spot for rambling and mountain biking. See if you can spot resident wallabies, kangaroo, colourful bird life or echidnas. Maybe find a wombat burrow or spot the illusive lyrebird!
