Suburban Sandcastles will present an insightful move and discussion night in Parkdale this December, which is sure to appeal to Melbourne Mums and Mums-to-be.
Why Not Home?
The event is centered around the topic of birth choices, with a screening of the documentary Why Not Home?. The film delves into the reasons why perhaps home birthing is not as crazy as it is made out to be.
Why Not Home? follows the personal journey of a number of women who chose not to birth in a hospital environment, and demonstrates how families are facing challenges both at home and in the hospital, regardless of their birth choices.
Join in on the NEW Art of Beer tour of Melbourne, which will cover the city's relationship with beer, its history and the best places to drink and enjoy beer.
Following the screening of Why Not Home?, viewers are invited to participate in a Q&A discussion with a panel of industry professionals:
Louise Paterson, the Clinical Director of Community Midwifery Services.
“Throughout most of my career I have been fortunate enough to look after mothers in the continuity of care model, and have again and again seen the benefits of mothers having this one on one model of care to support them through the pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. I always feel very privileged that I am able to be a support at one of the most exciting, but sometimes challenging times in a woman’s life." Louise says.
Emily Jones, a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator.
Emily runs Acacia Wellness, assisting hundreds of women with fear and anxiety related to childbirth.
