The Redwood Forest in Warburton

The enchanting Californian Redwood forest can be found within a few kilometres outside Warburton.

Visit here with your children and be in awe of this stunning Heritage Listed site, which exists due to an extensive revegetation program conducted by the MMBW in the 1920s and 1930s following a clearing of a eucalypts forest.

Over 1450 trees were planted here and they are thriving. The trees have reached between 20 - 55 metres in height already, although these beauties are still infants Redwoods considering some of the mature trees reach up to 115 metres and can live up to 1,500 years.

Let your children run amongst the sequoia sempervirens as they go in search of "dragons nests"; bundles of branches pieced together to form what looks like a nest, built by a local Warburton artist David Digapony.

The tranquility of the Redwood Forest in Warburton is hard to descibe but if you are looking for a place to escape the noise of your busy lives for a little while, I would suggest you plan your day trip to Warburton asap.

Pack a picnic or grab a nice lunch from one of the lovely eateries found in the town of Warburton.

Follow the Warburton Highway past Warburton until it becomes Woods Point Road. After about 7 km, look for Cement Creek Road on the left. This is unsealed and a little rough in places, but 0.7 km along you will find a small parking area on the right along a fenceline and small gate barrier. Walk through the barrier and there you are!
