Child-firendly accommodation along the Great Ocean Road
Apollo Bay is a lovely beachside town located along the Great Ocean Road. It's the perfect place for a family getaway, and at just under 3 hours' drive from Melbourne's CBD (if you take the inland route through Winchelsea), you can easily escape for a weekend away.
I recently spent a night in Apollo Bay at The Dolphin Apartments after being recommended to stay there by a colleague.
The Melbourne Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Melbourne mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
The lounge area has a good sized couch, a flat screen LCD T.V with Austar and free in-house movies, a radio with iPod dock (I couldn't find a radio station other than talkback radio though), and a large coffee table with a visitor information folder on it.
In the bathroom there is a spa bath, a huge shower, soft - fluffy white towels, a hair dryer and the usual complimentary hotel toiletries.
There is a front loader washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, ironing board, outdoor clothes drying stand, outdoor dining table, reverse cycle heating and cooling and a safe.
Friendly and informative staff.
Walking distance to everything - shops, information centre, playground, pier, beach and golf course.
It's very quiet at night and the room was dark once the lights were out.
Big room, comfortable bed and pillows.
Clean and well appointed.
Herald Sun newspaper delivered to the front door in the morning.
Family friendly 2 bedroom apartments.
Good onsite carparking.
Very slow Wi-Fi (although free).
Cost: Varies depending on season and the type of apartment. The Dolphin Apartments website has a best rate guaranteed icon if you book direct.
Overall: The Dolphin Apartments get the big tick of approval from me. I will definitely be going back with the family for a relaxing seaside weekend away.

Dining out with the kids is not always easy, but it can be even harder trying to find family-friendly options when you are vegetarian, vegan, paleo or gluten free. If you can relate to this, make Plant Based Mum your go-to blog.
