Child-firendly accommodation along the Great Ocean Road

Apollo Bay is a lovely beachside town located along the Great Ocean Road. It's the perfect place for a family getaway, and at just under 3 hours' drive from Melbourne's CBD (if you take the inland route through Winchelsea), you can easily escape for a weekend away.

I recently spent a night in Apollo Bay at The Dolphin Apartments after being recommended to stay there by a colleague.

As luck would have it, I managed to secure the very last apartment available - a one bedroom, ground floor apartment.

As you can see by the photos, the apartment is very spacious and has everything and more that you could possibly need for a few nights away.

The bedroom had a comfortable king size bed, plenty of storage space in the mirror fronted wardrobe, a flat screen T.V, bedside lamps and a view out onto the little outdoor terrace area.

The kitchen is well appointed with a full size fridge, oven, hot plates, microwave, dishwasher, lots of storage space and all the pots, pans and utensils needed to cook simple meals.

The lounge area has a good sized couch, a flat screen LCD T.V with Austar and free in-house movies, a radio with iPod dock (I couldn't find a radio station other than talkback radio though), and a large coffee table with a visitor information folder on it.

In the bathroom there is a spa bath, a huge shower, soft - fluffy white towels, a hair dryer and the usual complimentary hotel toiletries.

There is a front loader washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, ironing board, outdoor clothes drying stand, outdoor dining table, reverse cycle heating and cooling and a safe.

Overall: The Dolphin Apartments get the big tick of approval from me. I will definitely be going back with the family for a relaxing seaside weekend away.
