The all new Deck @ Rochford Wines in the stunning Yarra Valley is now open and ready for families to enjoy.

We recently headed to the Yarra Valley on a hot Melbourne summers day for a wonderful day trip that incorporated a picnic with local produce at McKenzie Reserve in Yarra Glen, berry picking at Kinglake Raspberries, a play at the incredible [Link https://melbournemumsgroup.com.au/bollygum-playground/ Bollygum Adventure Playground], followed by a relaxed dinner at before driving back home on a balmy evening with a car full of content and happy children.

If you have ever visited Rochford Wines then you would know it as being one of the biggest estates in the Yarra Valley and home to "A Day on the Green", a popular outdoor music event that's held on the sprawling lawns of Rochford Estate a few times a year.

Driving into the estate we parked in the main car park that services the cellar door, Isabella's restaurant and the cafe as we weren't exactly sure where to find 'The Deck', though it didn't take long to work out where we needed to be and the kids enjoyed a good run across the grass. Parking is available at The Deck if you follow the gravel drive past the main carpark.

Unlike Isabella's restaurant in the main building The Deck is a super relaxed and informal affair where you can chill out after a long day with the kids and enjoy live music with a glass of Rochford wine and a bite to eat. The kids made a beeline for the comfy lounge chairs out of the sun and with a view towards the water.

The band [Link www.facebook.com/LEFTRIGHTCENTRE/ Left Right and Centre] were getting set up not long after we arrived and started playing at around 6pm, they performed some popular, cruisy cover songs with their own unique style. I feel it was the perfect choice of band for a relaxed evening.

As for meals, there were 3 options for children to choose from; fish & chips, chicken & Chips and German hotdogs. Our kids chose the fish & chips and the chicken & chips. Both were very good sized portions and were served with a bread roll and a separate tub of tomato sauce. I snuck a bite of the chicken which was very tender and moreish but didn't get a chance to try the fish as it was devoured in a few minutes flat! Kid's meals were $13.

Adults had 5 options to choose from; Smoked salmon, vegetarian burger, chicken tenderloins, pastrami and oyster blade beef with the option of creamy coleslaw with bacon or potato salad on the side. My partner chose the smoked salmon with a side of potato salad.

I chose the house made pastrami with a potato salad and gherkins as a side. Both of our meals were fresh, tasty and great value at $25 with a glass of wine.

After dinner we enjoyed a stroll through the vineyard and soaked up the stunning surrounds.

Overall we had a lovely time at The Deck, the kids enjoyed themselves, our meals were tasty, the band was great and it was the perfect way to finish our day out in the Yarra Valley.
