Jamberry is a word you'll hear quite a lot in mothers group circles. Many Mums use Jamberry as a way to supplement an income around having children.
What exactly is
Jamberry? All I know, is that Jamberry something to do with nails. I've asked Zara, a Melbourne based Jamberry Consultant
, to tell us more.
Zara, what is Jamberry?
Zara Xeni, Independent Consultant for Jamberry
Jamberry are nail wraps, which are heat activated and placed on the nail. There are over 300 different designs to choose from and can last up to 2 weeks on finger nails, and up to 6 weeks on feet (I have had them in my toes for longer than 6 weeks though). Jamberry nail wraps last longer lasting than nail polish.
In a sheet of wraps you get 2 manis 2 pedis and some left overs to make tips, etc. I use mine on my toes so my sheets last me ages.
Jamberry only launched here in Australia last October, so it is a fairly new company here, but was established in the USA.
Why have you chosen to join up with Jamberry
I joined Jamberry, because I'm a nail addict. I love to have pretty nails, and I'd previously go every three weeks to get my nails done. Paying to get nail art done is not cheap, anywhere between $120 - $180, crazy yes I know. I have four daughters too, and two of them always ask me if they can have nails like me. So I came across Jamberry and thought great I'm going get the kit and buy the wraps at a discount for my girls, and do pedicures on myself! That's what I did, but I also told friends and family about it ,and some loved it so much that I decided to post up on groups on Facebook - it has been a complete hit.
Obviously the more you post on social media the better your results would be. Personally I prefer to do in-house parties, that way I can show samples, and people can see product for themselves.
What the incentives like?
The incentives are great 30-40% commission every week, per sale, plus monthly bonuses and holiday reward trips, too.
I've only been doing Jamberry for a couple of months. I've only really been posting in groups, but have generated an income by doing so. The income is not a huge one, but I've made around $1000 in 2-3 months by being active on Facebook.
How much are Jamberry wraps?
Wraps are $22 per sheet. In a sheet you get 2 manis and 2 pedis, and left over to make tips etc. You can also buy 3 and get 1 free.
How many hours do you put in per week and when do you carry out the majority of your work?
I work anywhere between 2 hours to 3-4 hours a day. It's easy sending out catalogues to friends and family, plus the majority has been word of mouth
Because it has been the school holidays I haven't put much hours into it, but that will change with the kids back at school.
What job did you do before kids?
Before I had kids I worked as a receptionist / personal assistant to the managing director of a building company. After I had kids, about 3 years go, I started my own family day care from home but have stopped now for just over a year. The hours were long and tiring.
Do you see a future in your consulting career or is this a 'stop gap' job?
I do see a career in this, and my aim is to form my own team and become team manger, if not a higher rank.
Would you say you need to be a sales person to become a consultant?
I am definitely not a sales person. The wraps sell themselves as they are pretty and all girls love to do their nails (and I've come across some boys, too).
The great support network, training facilities and the new friends made is a god send
