I have just received a notice from my daughter's kindergarten that asks parents to sign a petition to help protect kindergarten funding for children beyond 2017.
Unlike me, you may have heard in the media that the Federal Government has not committed to funding their portion of the current 15 hours offered to four year old kinder students beyond 2017.
For us parents, that means our children could potentially miss out on 5 hours of kinder education each week. Cutting the hours back from the current 15 hours per week down to 10 hours per week means that they will miss out on one-third of the total hours currently provided.
There is much current research that supports 15 hours of kinder as being the MINIMUM for achieving the best educational outcomes for children.
What you can do:
If you want to send a message to the Federal Government that we want 15 hours of kindergarten education placement for our children then sign the petition at Protect Our Preschools and share the word with your friends and family.
