Peppa Pig's Surprise is an all new live show arriving into Melbourne from the UK this April and May!

Peppa Pig's Surprise

Ahead of the exciting Australian tour, we have interviewed Emma Arends who performs as 'Daisy' on Peppa Pig's Surprise tour.

You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April 2019 at Fitzroy Gardens.
Q. Hi Emma, we see you are playing Daisy in Peppa Pig’s Surprise, what is Daisy’s role in the show?

A. Daisy is the facilitator of the show. She encourages audience participation, getting the children and adults joining in, dancing and singing along. Daisy brings them into the action and invites the children into the magical world of Peppa Pig.

Q. We’ve previously seen you play as Daisy in Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience, how will your TV role differ from the stage performance?

A. Every movement, smile and eyebrow raise is exaggerated through TV & film so everything has to be smaller and detailed. When playing Daisy on the stage she’ll be just as fun as she is in ‘My First Cinema Experience’ just bigger so everyone on the back row gets as good a view as the front rows!

Q. Peppa Pig’s Surprise is performing in 40 venues throughout April to July 2018, that’s a lot of shows! How will you keep your energy levels up?

A. Wow 40 venues! Water is my best friend when I’m touring, I try to stay as healthy as possible but a chocolate fix is needed once in a while!

Q. Will the rest of the cast and theatre set for Peppa Pig’s Surprise be travelling from the UK?

A. I know the cast are from the UK as I’ve worked with most of them before. I haven’t met our crew yet so I’ll have to come back to you on that one.

Q. How many cast members are involved in Peppa Pig’s Surprise?

A. There’s 7 cast members altogether!

Q. Have you been to Australia before?

A. I haven’t been to Australia before, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am! I have just got my Padi Diving License so I’m looking forward to seeing what your amazing ocean has to offer .... My mum is very worried I might not want to come home!

Q. Will you get much down time to see Australia before, during or after your shows?

A. I think it’s necessary for everyone to find a little downtime in their day no matter what they do. I love my Yoga so I will hopefully find a quiet spot somewhere, lay down my mat and zone out even if it’s just for 10 minutes.

Q. What can we expect from Peppa Pig’s Surprise, live on stage?

A. Peppa Pig’s Surprise is a fun family day out. Its full of singing, dancing and of course jumping in muddy puddles! Bring your best Peppa Pig Wellies (Gum Boots)!

Q. Will we get to meet all the characters from our kid’s much loved TV show in Peppa Pig’s Surprise?

A. I don’t think all of them would fit on stage together ;) we have the most loved adult characters ‘Mummy and Daddy Pig’, Peppa’s best friend Suzy is there too and of course little baby George and a couple of others but I won’t spoil it too much! There’s even a cheeky little surprise at the end of the first act (which is my favourite part) make sure you look out for a dancing animal monkeying around!

Q. Will you be travelling elsewhere after your Australian tour?

A. After the Australian leg of the tour I’m traveling around Australia for 18 days capturing as much of your exciting country as possible! Then we tour New Zealand for 3 weeks before ending my adventure in Bali for a well deserved restful holiday, before home time

Q. What is next for you after playing Daisy in Peppa Pig’s Surprise?

A. It’s always great to work for Entertainment One and FieryLight, the Peppa Family as I call them, or perhaps Australia might take my heart and I’ll end up working on Ramsay street ... who knows?
