Warm in Winter, Cool in Summer

Today the kids and I headed to P.A.R.C (Peninsula Aquatic & Recreation Centre) in Frankston to make the most of a school curriculum day.

This was our second visit to P.A.R.C, we usually do swimming lessons at a much smaller and quieter pool about 20 minutes away, but the kids really enjoyed their last visit in the school holidays and have been asking to go back since.

To be completely honest I found it slightly overwhelming when we went during the school holidays. It was really noisy, there were lots of kids and it was really difficult to keep track of my own children between the different zones.

The upside was that the kids absolutely loved the giant waterslides, the aquatic play area, water fountains and Splash Town, which is a giant inflatable obstacle course that features in the main pool during school holidays and can be booked in advance for birthday parties.

During the week however, it's much quieter, it's easy to keep track of the little ones and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The only drawback is that the giant waterslides only operate between 4pm-7pm outside of school holidays.

Overall it cost just under $30 for myself and the 4 kids, so I'd say it's a little more expensive than our regular pool, but it's definitely worth it!

The kids will easily spend a couple of hours playing here.

Facilities include:
  • Cafe/kiosk
  • Shop with gym and swimwear
  • Family change rooms
  • Hydro pool
  • Beach entry/ toddler pool
  • Warm water pool
  • Learn to swim pool
  • Lap pool
  • 2 giant waterslides
  • Aqualink playground
  • Gym
  • Creche
  • Ticketed car parking

Note: The one thing I find really annoying about P.A.R.C is the car parking! The system could really be improved. You need to have the correct change and know how long you are going to be there in advance to buying the ticket... I never carry change, and with 4 kids, the chances are I'm always going to end up being much longer than anticipated, so we ended up having to find a park in a nearby street instead. Parking costs around $4 for 2 hours and increases from there up to $8 from memory (up to 2 hours of car parking is refundable if you are using the pool/gym).
