The $2.5million interactive exhibition Ground Up: Building Big Ideas Together is going to be an environment to challenge all senses, with Tinkering Zone for tots to 3 year-olds and a Collaborative Zone designed for 3 to 5 year-olds.
Toddlers will enjoy a play space to try their hands at open-ended activities such as creating contraptions to fly in wind tubes, stacking and sorting custom-made blocks on a colourful light table, and practicing foundational coding skills such as sequencing and critical thinking. The play area will also see the installation of a light-up switch wall to help develop fine motor skills and logical thinking.
The 3 to 5 year-olds will be challenged in the Collaborative Zone to use communication and social skills to solve problems. Pre-schoolers will have access to large-scale construction and simple machinery and will be encouraged to work together.
In addition to Ground Up: Building Big Ideas Together , a $3.75 million immersive permanent exhibition is underway to educate secondary school age and beyond. This exhibition will engage young adults in science through revealing the invisible world of wave forms.
Get ready to inspire your children's minds this summer as Scienceworks' new STEM playground Ground Up: Building Big Ideas Together opens on 4 December 2017.
