I have been offered a part time casual contract position for 12 months via a recruitment agency. It is a very good learning opportunity for me so I had decided to go ahead with it. I am currently on mat leave from my permanent job role. I was simply going to cite personal reasons for leaving that job.
The recruitment agency are asking to contact the HR/payroll at my current place of work even though I had mentioned early on in the recruitment process that I am not comfortable for this to occur.
Since it is a contract position with a clause that my employment can be terminated at any time with 1 day's notice at their discretion, I don't want to jeopardise my chances of going back to permanent employer if something goes wrong.
I am new to Australia, can anyone please guide me what my rights are in this case? Any help would be appreciated.
Please note, They have already conducted the police check and spoken to my references.
