Murrumbeena playground is a favourite amongst locals and it's easy to see why!
This playground caters for every age level. There are two distinct play areas, one for the smaller kids and one for the bigger kids... not to mention the sports ovals, and basketball ring for when you need to drag teens along.
For parents that love coffee, it's also only a short stroll to some brilliant coffee shops, such as the child-friendly Iron Henry or Nature Boy.
The playground has some great equipment including a flying fox with disk seat, a zorb type rope climbing ball, net swing, sea saw, a pear swing, large ladybird springers, a mound slide along with all the traditional play equipment and climbing frames.
Other elements include nature-based play with a dry creek bed, wooden carvings, logs to jump across and a labyrinth of bright poles with a circular path that leads to a big snail.
There are two shelters with tables, unshaded BBQs, water tap and toilets. Free car parking is located directly out the front of the playground and there is a fence that separates the playground from the busy road, but the playground is not fully fenced.
Birthday parties are very popular at this playground, so if you are thinking of hosting a birthday party, and want to secure yourself the 'Joey' rotunda, then make sure you reserve it through Glen Eira City council's booking officer on 95243333 (fees apply). It can be booked months in advance.
Murrumbeena Park is situated at 37 Kangaroo Road, Murrumbeena (approx. a 20min drive south-east of Melbourne.)
A day at the Melbourne Zoo is always an adventure and for a week in February, there will be added excitement with kids able to "virtually visit" the habitats of animals that call Melbourne's waterways home.
