Monster Jam Melbourne 2016

by kateG (follow)
Monster Jam madness recently hit Melbourne and the G boys and I got to be part of the action.

We spent the night with thousands of excited Australian fans in the company of America’s finest drivers in the ‘Expect The Unexpected’ Australian tour at AAMI Park.

These colourful, four-metre-high, five-tonne trucks entertained the young and old for hours with their jaw dropping stunts as they tore up the custom designed competition arena.

Orchards’ Pick Your Own is back this summer with even more family fun! Children love to pick their own fresh cherries and this year, Monday to Friday entry for children up to 13 years old is FREE!

It’s hard to see how these enormous contraptions are able to do anything in what seems like a small space, but be prepared to be amazed.

The skilled, if not slightly crazy, drivers navigated their machines with ease over the jumps and wowed the crowd with their wheelies as they snaked their way around the arena. Surprisingly, Monster Trucks can accelerate 0-100KPH in under 3 seconds…say no more!

The exhilarating evening was made up of two rounds. First, the trucks competed, two at a time, in a timed race to see who could get around the track the fastest.

The second round, the crowd’s favourite by far, was the freestyle round. This gave each driver an allocated amount of time to wow the judges with their Monster Truck skills – the crazier the better! Some ended up upside down after their dare devil attempts – which, of course, did nothing more than make the crowd shout for more!

Throughout the evening, the drivers of Zombie, Dragon, Grave Digger, Monster Energy, El Loco Toro and many others had the fans screaming with delight as they soared through the Melbourne skies.

The G boys loved every minute of it and naturally now want to be a Monster Truck driver when they grow up! Monster Jam University here we come…

Thank for an awesome night Monster Jam. We really hope you come back in 2017 Monster Jam…Melbourne wants you back!
