Places to take children for messy play and creative art

Messy Art seems to be the latest craze to hit Melbourne, so let's take a look and see what it is, where the kids can take part and how much it costs...

Messy Art is essentially sensory art play for pre-schoolers. It's all about creativeness where making a mess is actively encouraged.



Mess Matters in Moorabbin offer casual messy play visits, school holiday programs and fully catered birthday parties.

Messy Me cater for under 5's and have 3 locations around Melbourne: Brunswick, Hoppers Crossing and Hadfield. Sessions are 1 hour in duration and each has a theme and 8 different sensory options to explore.

Craftercise is located in Airport West and is run by qualified primary and secondary school teachers. Sessions are 45 minutes in duration and they offer three different age categories: Messy Monkeys (6 18 months), Dizzy Ducks (walkers/18 months 3 years) and Crafty Crocs (3 5 years).

Happy Hands Art Time has several locations throughout Victoria and I love that it's non-profit community art program that offers 1.5 hour classes to 1-5yo children for only $8!

Hungry Peacock - The Busy Peacock is a popular cafe/messy play location in Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula.
