School holidays have come around quickly, and whether you’re a working mum or not, sometimes you need a helping hand to keep everyone entertained and inspired! That’s where a day trip, show, workshop or class can be perfect.
Here’s what’s available these Spring school holidays in and around Melbourne. There’s something for everyone so don’t miss out!
Walk the Gruffalo Trail at Rippon Lea Estate
If your kids love the best-selling book then they will fall in love with The Gruffalo Trail at Rippin Lea Estate, where they can go Gruffalo spotting and come face to face with the much-loved characters of the book. The interactive nature walk allows young explorers to journey through winding paths and gardens into a deep, dark wood and spot their favourite characters using an augmented reality app.

Be sure to search for and download the ‘Gruffalo Spotter AUS’ on the App Store or Google Play prior to your visit. Make sure to save any photos taken using the app before deleting the app from your phone!

Little Yogis & Co School Holiday Sessions
Little Yogis and Co offers yoga for children. Children aged four and over can take part in school holiday fun while learning about self-awareness, resilience and body control. Each session includes a range of fun activities that include Opening Circle and Meaningful Question, yoga games, yoga art and finished off with wind down, relaxation and mindfulness activity.

Acro Kids School Holiday Program
If your kids would like to develop their tumbling and parkour skills, then Acro Kids is the place to be. Acro Kids entertain in a full day or two-hour workshop these school holidays. Programs take place in Mt Eliza are a bound to be a fun-filled activity for energetic youngsters.

Kids will learn gymnastics and parkour fundamentals including tumbling, flips, aerials, cartwheels, handstands, barrel and commando rolls, fence jumps and much more!
When: 23rd of September to the 4th of October

An Underwater Adventure at Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium
The Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium will take your kids on an interactive underwater adventure discovering the wonders of the underground world meeting various sea creatures and marine animals, and then into Antarctica with the penguins. Be sure to check out the daily feeds and talks where kids of all ages can learn more about these amazing sea animals.

Sesame Street Circus Spectacular by Silvers
Sesame Street fans get ready! For kids, the excitement starts as soon as you arrive. Once you enter the foyer you will find an interactive drawing table where kids can learn to draw their favourite Sesame Street characters. Kids will also be able to play in “Elmo’s World”, where they can bounce around in the ball pit! After the 90-minute show families can meet Big Bird and have your photo taken with him.

CIY: Code It Yourself School Holiday Camps
CIY Camps offers children an opportunity to explore technology and discover just what their imaginations can do. At their school holiday camps, children will explore and be exposed to different technologies as they discover and apply different skills in Coding or 3D Design. They will learn communication and teamwork in a fun environment. What could be better!?

Kulin Dreaming on Australian Trail at Werribee Open Range Zoo
These school holidays, Aboriginal cultural activities will take over the Australian Trail at Werribee Open Range Zoo. Members of the local Kulin Nation will share their incredible stories through dance and didgeridoo performances, gumnut and emu feather necklace workshops, ochre face painting, clap stick decorating, river pebble symbol painting and much more!

Friends Catch-up at Bam Bam Italian in the Dandenong Ranges

The Sleeping Beauty by the Australian National Youth Ballet
The world’s favourite fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, returns to Melbourne by popular demand after a 2018 sell out season! If you have a budding ballerina or Sleeping Beauty lover in your home, this is a not-to-be missed show. You can’t help but be swept up by the grandeur of and beauty of the Australian National Youth Ballet’s production of The Sleeping Beauty.

Wonderland Spiegeltent Festival Pop Up Park at Fed Square
This vintage 19th century Belgian travelling circus tent will roll into Melbourne complete with a world-class line-up of adult and family shows along with fun rides, nostalgic amusements and carnival style treats for all ages. The Wonderland Spiegeltent Festival also includes a dedicated Spring School Holidays program which will be on offer featuring a family friendly circus, acrobatic, magic and adventure shows.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre at Chadstone
If you have kids that love LEGO, then the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Melbourne is the perfect indoor playground to spend the day. Located at Chadstone Shopping Centre, LEGOLAND is the ultimate LEGO playground for kids and families.

There are plenty of activities for younger children, such as the DUPLO Farm and soft play, and for the older ones there is the LEGO Racers, the underwater world, the creative workshops and more. LEGOLAND recommends a minimum of 2-3 hours for your visit, and re-entry is not allowed.
