KidsUKnow

We’ve all had that ‘heart-stopping, OMG’ moment at some point – the one where you’ve forgotten your nephew’s 2nd birthday or your goddaughter’s 4th birthday and you need to get them a decent gift – and fast!

Imagine never forgetting a birthday again. KidsUKnow is a world first that has never been done before. It’s a simple, practical concept that is all about remembering the names and birthdays of the kids you know – hence the name.

The website works quite simply by signing up and adding the name, DOB and the postcode of the ‘KidUKnow’. When a birthday is coming up, KidsUKnow will remind you, along with an age and gender appropriate gift solution.

KidsUKnow is a Melbourne based startup co-founded by Shanrah Randall and Rohan Dixon, a couple of friends in their 30s with kids of their own. Shanrah and Rohan spent a lot of time researching with their respective parent groups and asking some key questions.

The common theme to come out of the research was that people were always forgetting important dates, which is an embarrassing situation regardless of who the child in your life is. Given there are 365 days in a year and children don’t have Facebook accounts to remind you, forgetting a birthday is bound to happen once in a while!

When all of their friends started having kids, the pair sat down and thought about building a simple children’s birthday reminder system – one that could be partnered with baby and child boutiques to recommend a unique age and gender appropriate gift solution.

They also found that so many parents simply don’t have the time to trawl the internet looking for the latest toy and gift ideas on the market – KidsUKnow works closely with various stores to ensure no child is forgotten.

KidsUKnow has it all covered – along with the age and gender appropriate recommendations, there’s a free, personalised card and wrapping included with the gift, which is sent within 24 hours. The delivery time is just 3 hours, provided the store is open.

Shanrah and Rohan’s research showed that parents tend to enjoy shopping at their local boutiques and purchasing organic made, unique and beautifully gifted wrapped presents.

“It’s important to mums that they shop local and support the little guys and Australian owned businesses – designed and made is a bonus. We’ve had a lot of people telling us how much they need this reminder, despite how organised they are. We know we have a unique offering which will make peoples lives easier so that they never forget another kids birthday again,” says Shanrah.

Life is busy and there’s only so much organising you can do. If you are always forgetting birthdays, KidsUKnow is the service you need to keep track of important celebrations and never forget a birthday again.
