Kangatraining: The Perfect Workout for Mums with Babies

by BecSorby (follow)
Kangatraining is a unique workout designed for postnatal mums and their babies.

If you are a new mum looking to return to exercise or take up a fitness regime, you may have plenty of questions before you start. What type of exercise is suitable for postnatal mums? What can I do to meet new people? Who will look after my baby while I work out?

The answer is Kangatraining! This holistic, low impact and low intensity workout has been designed for postnatal mums to return to exercise safely and WITH their baby.

The Melbourne Crochet Club meets on a regular basis to learn crochet, meet other local mums, and to have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along.

Not only are the classes fun, social and available to women from six weeks postpartum (from 12 weeks post caesarian) but they also solve the nightmare of trying to find a babysitter or the stress of having to settle a crying baby during the class.

The focus of the workout is to enhance cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and muscular capacity and strength. Classes pay special attention to the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles and correct posture.

Along with the physical benefits, the emotional benefits include the opportunity to meet other local mums in a relaxed environment.

There are instructors located all over Melbourne, so chances are, there is a class near you.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? Melbourne Knitting Club has classes for you.
And if there isn’t a class near you, why not consider becoming a Kangatraining instructor yourself? If you are an active mum, would love to bring your baby to work with you and have a passion for helping others achieve their goals, this could be your dream job!

By taking part in their Instructor Course, you will undergo exams in anatomy and postnatal health, and be trained in babywearing safety. This includes the best practices for helping mums learn the safest and most comfortable carrying positions for their babies.

Kangatraining offers a flexible work environment and an opportunity to be a part of a supportive network of instructors across the city.

There are no pre-requisites to complete the program, but a positive attitude and desire to support other mums is a must. You can read more about the course here.

For more information about Kangatraining and to find a class near you, head over to the website or check out the Facebook page.
