Get Your Green Time On National Tree Day

by kateG (follow)
With technology taking over most families, it’s important to make sure that family time is spent in the great outdoors as well as indoors. It’s all about getting the happy balance – easier said than done but it’s good for your health and well-being.

Planet Ark and Toyota Australia have joined forces again for the 20th National Tree Day initiative. As part of this annual green event, the organisers have commissioned research about the implications that being in nature can have on someone’s health, well-being and development.

The end result is simple – it makes a huge difference! It shows that ‘green time’ helps with people in many ways - physically, intellectually, emotionally, mentally, and ethically.

This year Planet Ark is celebrating two decades of Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event – National Tree Day (Friday 29th July in schools and Sunday 31 in the community).

Since its inception, National Tree Day has seen Day more than 3.8 million people participating in planting 22.3 million trees and plants.

This stand out event is a great way to show you support for your local community and get in amongst nature.

Whether it is as home, at school, at work or in your local community, there will be plenty of tree planting happening at the end of August. So don’t dig your heels in, don your gum boots and go green for a day – you may even find you enjoy it!
