Gardenworld Nursery and Cafe in Braeside

by EricaL (follow)
A garden centre with dinosaurs, cacti, carnivorous plants and a lovely cafe

If you think a visit to a garden centre will be boring for your children, then you've yet to visit Gardenworld in Braeside.

You can't miss Gardenworld, located on Springvale Road, because you'll notice a number of dinosaurs along the roadside, ready to entice you in to the venue.

Gardenworld's dinosaurs are an obvious attraction for children because name a kid who doesn't love creatures of the prehistoric kind? A number of these non-animatronic giant beasts can be found all over the centre.

However, it is not just dinosaurs that will interest your kids. The sheer volume of flora and fauna species on display and for sale are really interesting to see.

In the Collector's Corner, you will find a display of large cacti with a few small cacti plants available to buy should you wish to take one home.

There are also a number of carnivorous plants, which derive their nutrients from trapped insects. Most fascinating for curious young minds.

There is a greenhouse filled with an impressive selection of orchids usually found in the world's tropics, and outside, an interesting collection of bonsai trees and giant lilypds.

If that isn't enough, your children can fossick amongst gemstones, meteorites, fossils and shells. The rarer finds are on display behind glass but there are some smaller crystals your children can pick up.. or buy and take home if you let them!

Check Gardenworld's Facebook Page for updates on school holiday programs, which are often free/low cost.

Once you are done, head to the Gardenworld Café. The café is open every day, fully licensed and open from 9am – 4:30pm. The food here is excellent and this eatery is very accommodating for children.
