It's currently the perfect time to be picking berries at the Bramble Berry Farm. The crops are loaded with ripe blackberries, raspberries and youngberries which are all great for jam making, baking, adding to smoothies or eating just as they are.

We visited Bramble Farm last week with the children and they had a fantastic time scouring the raspberry bushes looking for the best berries.

As well as the berries the children also enjoyed seeing the friendly ponies and horses that were in the adjacent paddocks surrounding the house.

Entry is free to the berry farm but in exchange they do ask that you refrain from eating berries as you pick them but if you can't resist eating them straight of the bush you can purchase a grazers pass for $10 from memory.

Pick your own berries are priced at $20 per kg (supermarkets charge round $4.95 for 125g) so I think it's pretty reasonable.

Frozen berries are available all year round and are priced between $18-$25kg depending on the quality. Homemade jams, marmalades, chutneys, sauces and cold pressed honey are also available.

The farm is open all year round, 7 days a week 9am-5pm. Pick your own berries are available from November to April (depending on the season).

Bramble Farm is located at 25 Lyppards Rd, Langwarrin which is about a 40 minutes drive from Melbourne and close to the Mornington Peninsula.
