Volunteer run Aviation Museum in Moorabbin with nearly 50 Aircraft on Display

The Australian National Aviation Museum is located at Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne's South East.

If you're not aware of this little gem, you will be forgiven. There are many locals to the area who have get to discover the oldest volunteer run Aviation Museum in Australia.

Home to almost 50 aircraft (in storage or under restoration) and over 20 engines stored in a huge hanger, the Australian National Aviation Museum is one of the largest museums in the country to hold such a collection.

The museum is owned and operated by the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group (AARG); a not for profit organisation formed in 1962 as a volunteer group by members of the Aviation Historical Society of Australia.

Since its inception, this permanent museum has gathered a number of significant pieces from Australia's aviation history including an RAAF aircraft and a WW2 Beaufighter. Australian National Aviation Museum's collection includes both military and civilian.

The volunteer run museum actively encourages people of all ages to explore Australia's aviation history. The Australian National Aviation Museum invites visitors to learn about Australia's aircraft history with a handful of the collection's cockpits open for exploration!

Teach your children about Australia's aviation history at the Australian National Aviation Museum. Entry prices are mroe than reasonable:

Where: Corner First and Second Ave, Moorabbin Airport, Moorabbin
Opening Hours: M - F 10am - 4pm
Sat & Sun 10am - 5pm
(Closed: Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day. ANZAC Day the Museum Opens at 1pm)
Entry: $10 Adult, $5 Child (Under 5s Free) $20 Family.
