The Collingwood Children's Farm

Looking for a country experience, in the middle of the city? Look no further.

The Collingwood Children's Farm has been a family favourite for many years.

The farm is home to many friendly animals who seem to relish the attention thrown their way.

The noisy sheep and goats wander up to you confidently, checking your hands to see if you have anything on offer.

We had one particular noisy sheep follow us along the fence line, blissfully scratching his back on the metal wire, while he baa'd for some food.

There are hundreds of chickens; some of whom meander through the farm, harassing diners in the cafe.

There a few large, majestic cows, lazing around the fields and munching on hay.

My favourite are the big black smelly pigs. These are Birkshire pigs; a breed no longer kept in commercial piggeries. The Berkshire is black with white points.

My daughter's favourite happened to be one of the 5 cats that we were lucky enough to sight.

He was preying on a magpie, getting ready to pounce; but then seemed to get distracted by the water in an old bath.

There are also very friendly quiet horses that are used for a Young Farmers Program on the weekends. You can seem them trotting all through the Farm.

The farm has an on-site, very popular, cafe; but there are also a few picnic tables sporadically scattered throughout the farm, so feel free to bring your own picnic.

On the second Saturday of every month there is a Farmers market, where you can find a large range of locally produced produce/cheese/pasta/cakes etc.
The Farm itself have their own Stall.

The Collingwood Children's Farm has something to entertain the whole family, and it is affordable. With a family ticket only costing $20.

For more information, check out their website here

Entry: $20 family ticket ( 2 x Adult 2 x Child)
