Little Free Libraries Enjoy The Love Of Books With Your Community

by kateG (follow)
When the G mob first moved to our suburb a couple of years ago, we stumbled across a little box on a front lawn along one of the roads in our quiet suburb.

On closer inspection, this box contained a number of books and was called Little Free Library.

Having never heard or seen anything like this before, we all wanted to know what it was all about.

The Little Free Library is a not for profit organisation that started in Wisconsin (USA) in 2009.

The main goal of the Little Free Library is the share the love of books and literacy with friends, neighbours and people in your community.

How do they work?

Members of the community are encouraged to take a book from the Little Free Library if they see something they like the look of. Once they have read the book, they are encouraged to place it back in the Little Free Library or pass it on to friends.

Book worms can also place other books that they may have enjoyed and wish to share with others.

To add that little bit extra, readers can include a note in the book.

Where else in Melbourne have you seen a Free Little Library?
