Melbournians are rather spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor playgrounds, but sometimes it's hard to pick out a good one for pre-schoolers.

That is why we've compiled a list of the best Melbourne playgrounds for toddlers, as voted by YOU.

South East Suburbs

Chelsea Bicentennial Park

Situated right next to the beach, with a sand castle play area and lighthouse with great views across the bay, sand pit diggers, swings and a boat.

Mentone Racecourse Reserve

Horse themed playground set on the site of the former racecourse

Carrum Foreshore Playground
15 Old Post Office Lane, (Foreshore) Carrum
Seaside theme, sandy playground, perfect for little ones. Mostly gated, but an open section toward the toilets and lifesaving club. Great views of the bay.

Phoenix Park

Wooden "fort" style playground, which suits kids of all ages. The Phoenix Park Cafe located within the Phoenix Park Community centre adjacent to the playground is worth a visit, too.

The Old Cheese Factory, Berwick
34 Homestead Rd, Berwick
Playground with a farmyard theme, situated on the grounds of an old homestead property. Don't forget to visit the cheese shop and bakery.

"Behind the community house on Tennyson St, there is a chicken coup and veggie patch, small amount of equipment for different young ages, fully fenced and gated." MMG Member.

Alma Road Park, St Kilda East

"Wide range of original equipment for all ages including climbing wall and large flying fox, next to a train line to trainspot" MMG Member.

Warrandyte Federation Playspace
Yarra Street, Warrandyte
A big playground with lots of wooden play equipment, plus kids can feed the ducks and there's a nice bakery to visit

Lillydale Lake
435 Swansea Rd, Lilydale
Lillydale Lake is an artificial lake and wetlands area with a park that covers over 100 hectares. There's a playground here that is popular in the area.

Update 13 Nov 2016 Lilydale Lake is currently closed, and is currently under development to become a water park - thanks for this info Mamma Knows East.

Jells Park, Yabbie Hill Playground

"An adventure playground surrounded by expansive lawns"

Halliday Park

Blackburn Lake Sanctuary

Pirate Ship Playground

Known as the Pirate Ship Playground on the banks of the Maribynong River

Hannah Watts Park, Melton

Popular park just east of the shopping centre, near to the creek so kids can feed the ducks, too
