Auskick Program is Kicking Goals with the Young Ones

by kateG (follow)
For many Victorian families, Australian Rules Football (AFL) is a religion. Many kids proudly wear their team colours from an early age and sing the club song word for word before they even know the national anthem!

The friendly rivalry between families and friends is something that sets this sport apart from other codes.

With a rich history in being a family friendly sporting spectacle, this has been emphasized by the national NAB AFL Auskick program.

This outstanding program encourages young boys and girls to learn the skills of the game in a fun way.

This unique program is suitable for primary school aged kids from 5-12 years old. Children must turn 5 in the calendar year to participate.

The weekly coaching sessions enable the kids to learn essential motor skills that can be adapted for many sports. Auskick also gives kids the opportunity to interact with others and learn team spirit. Sessions run for 60-90 minutes.

But itís not all about the kids, the Auskick program is also a great way for parents to feel a part of their local community and to meet others families in the area.

The coaching sessions encourage parent participation with all hands on deck where possible. The kids love seeing their parents getting involved and, believe it or not, the parents love it too.

It costs from $60-90 to per child for the year. Each registered child receives a welcome pack which is enough to get any child excited about footy.
