89.9 LightFM Launches Family Friendly News Service

by kateG (follow)
As a mum on the go it’s hard to keep abreast of what is happening in the world on a day to day basis, so I try to catch up with the world’s happenings throughout the day where and when I can.

However, with what seems like a continued increase in violence and tragedies across the world, I am always hesitant to tune in to any news service, be it in the car, at home or online, when there are little ears and eyes in the vicinity.

As a mother of three young and impressionable boys, I am constantly aware of what they are exposed to and do my best to shelter them from ‘the real world’.

I just want my kids to be kids as they have the rest of their lives to ‘play grown ups’.

Besides, if the daily news has an emotional effect on me, how will it affect them?

I am excited to share with you that Melbourne’s family friendly community radio station, 89.9 LightFM has the same train of thought. The station has recently announced its new family friendly news bulletin.

How does this work? The broadcaster has sanitised the daily news in a way that removes the graphic detail of the daily happenings that can sometimes be scary or simply inappropriate for kids to hear.

Their regular news bulletin will still report all the good and bad news of the day but it will be worded in a more kid-friendly way.

89.9 LightFM prides themselves on being a station that are dedicated to bringing listeners positive, safe, family friendly and 100% clean content. The addition of their family friendly news service, shows they mean business.

Well done 89.9 LightFM, you get the big thumbs up from me!

Tune in and tell us your thoughts.
